📋 Job Description

Overview: Join CPSI as a Medical Coding Advocate, where you will play a vital role in managing medical coding and data entry for various hospital visits, including Inpatient, Outpatient, Ambulatory, Surgery, Emergency, and Special Procedures.

Responsibilities : As a Medical Coding Advocate, your key responsibilities will include: - Inpatient: Ensure accurate assignment of ICD-10-CM and PCS primary and secondary diagnoses and procedure codes according to documentation and site-specific guidelines. - Outpatient: Assign modifiers to chargemaster items and coder-assigned CPT codes as necessary for outpatient coding. - Outpatient Surgery: Accurately assign CPT codes for outpatient procedures in line with client contracts and documentation. - Emergency Room: Assign diagnosis codes, appropriate E&M facility levels, and infusion/injection CPT codes. - Create compliant physician queries and review claims for medical necessity. - Update problem lists as per client contracts and assign present on admission indicators. - Provide outstanding customer service and foster a positive team environment, demonstrating a proactive attitude.

Requirements : To be considered for this role, you should have: - A 2-year degree or equivalent experience, with AHIMA or AAPC certification required. - Active credentials such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or COC with surgical and ortho experience, and knowledge of device codes is a plus. - A minimum of 2 years of coding experience across various patient types is preferred. - Exceptional written and oral communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and effective time management. - Attention to detail and the ability to resolve issues independently or collaboratively.
