**Overview**
The Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a dedicated Pharmacy Technician (GS-06) to join our team in Hines, Illinois. This full-performance position offers the opportunity to directly serve Veterans by supporting critical pharmacy operations in a healthcare environment. You'll work with automated dispensing systems and collaborate with pharmacists to ensure safe medication delivery.

Responsibilities **
• Process and fill prescription orders using automated pharmacy systems • Dispense and deliver medications to hospital floors and patients • Prepare sterile pharmaceutical products when required • Manage medication inventory including stocking supplies and identifying reorder needs • Monitor and remove expired medications from inventory • Provide technical customer service to Veterans regarding prescription inquiries • Handle phone calls and direct questions to appropriate pharmacy personnel • Assist with basic inventory management and stock organization

Requirements **
• U.S. citizenship required • One year of experience equivalent to GS-05 level OR qualifying education • Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state pharmacy regulations • Understanding of medication preparation, storage, and distribution protocols •
Experience with pharmacy information systems and dispensing equipment • Strong communication skills for patient and staff interactions • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift 50+ pounds, and perform repetitive hand/finger movements • Capability to walk extensively, bend, stoop, and operate various pharmacy equipment
Education and experience combinations totaling 100% qualification accepted. Foreign education must be evaluated by approved credential evaluation services.
Monday to Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM (full-time)
