Responsibilities : As an Infrastructure Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our OpenSearch ecosystem. Your tasks will include: - Actively participating in the development, innovation, and maintenance of Airbnb’s OpenSearch infrastructure to ensure it remains robust and efficient. - Creating systems that prioritize reliability, performance, and cost-effectiveness. - Developing tools that improve the developer experience for all OpenSearch users within the company. - Collaborating with the OpenSearch open-source community to share improvements and insights.
A typical day in this role will involve: - Joining design workshops to help shape the future of our search platform. - Focusing on building and refining tools for ElasticSearch/OpenSearch upgrades with cutting-edge language models. - Engaging in one-on-one mentoring sessions with experienced engineers to enhance both your technical and professional skill set. - Connecting with colleagues and partners during in-person meetings to align on objectives and promote teamwork.
Requirements : To succeed in this position, you should possess the following qualifications: - Proficiency in Java, with experience in building scalable and maintainable systems. - A BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. - A minimum of 4 years in the industry with a bachelor’s or master’s degree, while candidates with a PhD may apply without prior industry experience. - Familiarity with ElasticSearch or OpenSearch is an advantage. - Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders. - Professional proficiency in English, encompassing reading, writing, and speaking skills.
