**Overview**
The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team in Corpus Christi, Texas. This position offers the opportunity to serve our nation's veterans while building a rewarding career in pharmaceutical services. Application deadline: April 7, 2026.
**Requirements**
• U.S. citizenship required
• Proficiency in spoken and written English per 38 U.S.C. 7403(f)
• No specific education or experience prerequisites for entry-level positions
• For GS-07+ roles: Active national certification required through either Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) as Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or National Health-career Association (NHA) as Certified Pharmacy Technician (ExCPT)
• Qualifying education and experience combinations totaling 100% are acceptable
**Special Provisions**
Current VHA Pharmacy Technicians employed as of November 7, 2023, are grandfathered under existing qualifications for their current title, series, and grade. These employees may advance up to journey level but must obtain required certifications for higher-grade promotions. Grandfathered status applies to reassignments and promotions within the occupation but excludes supervisory roles unless full qualification standards are met.
Temporary appointments made before the qualification standard effective date cannot be extended without meeting current requirements. Employees who leave and later return to the occupation must satisfy all qualification standards in effect at re-entry.
